about katie
Katie Scott is a graduate of the Digital Animation program at BCIT, where she focused on the modeling and texturing aspect of computer-generated graphics. A life-long lover of video games and cartoons, Katie dreamed of working on video games at a young age. She is a self-described ‘computer nerd’, and has also been known to answer to ‘Photoshop freak’.
Katie has always been a creative person. From childhood arts and crafts, to video compositing as a teenager, creative endeavours have always been her passion. After graduating from high school in 2000, Katie took her interest in photography and turned it into a career. She worked at a photo processing lab for many years before being hired as a Photoshop expert at Overwaitea Food Group. There, she spent her days Photoshopping raw meat to have less fat, fruit to have less flaws and corporate portraits to have less wrinkles. While working at Overwaitea, Katie toiled away on her photography certificate at Langara College, and was later given the opportunity to do photography for Overwaitea. While she enjoyed photography, the dream of working on video games lingered in her mind. And it seemed just that, a dream, until chance introduced her to a hobby that would change her life.
In 2006 she tried poker for the first time and was immediately hooked. Hours of research and practice turned into huge profits and Katie was able to quit her career to head back to school to pursue a new one. In late 2008, Katie realized her dream of becoming a 3d professional specializing in modeling, texturing and digital painting.
Katie currently resides in Langley with her boyfriend, Dave, and their pugs, Jeffery and Bindi. You can reach Katie anytime at katie@katiescott.ca
